Groovy Music was established in 1984 as a wholesaler specialised in tropical music, mainly reggae. Main reason for this establishment was that at that time this music was hard to get in the Netherlands. Starting point was the import of LP's from the United Kingdom, later also from the USA. To meet the growing popularity of African music the import of these records was added to the program. Later followed by caribbean music en Argentinain tango.
